my mucous plug has already been discharging for the last 3-4 weeks....and everytime i stand im hard as a rock

Answer
There would be a little more watery stuff if it was your waters leaking, it would prolly fill a pad. You are very very close now though BTW :P maybe a few days howerver, you only have 1 cm to go :D. Hit the walking path, get with your man /grins, get some rasp tea into you or bounce on a trampoline lol Jk about the last one but GL you will not go till the 11th imo but anytime now. I hated being told 'any time now' lol lol.

Sudden large amount of discharge?

Lola

Ok so as i was jumping on the trampoline the other day, i suddenly felt like a large amount of discharge came out of me, i thought it was the normal amount. Then i felt wet, and when i looked down, i had a wet spot in my jeans, as if a little bit of pee had leaked out of me. I went to the bathroom to check, and it wasnt pee, but it seemed like a gush of water mixed with normal discharge. I never had this before, is it normal?

On a side note, im pretty sure i have yeast infection, it goes away after i get my period, which is the case right now, but i get the cottage cheese like discharge again the rest of the month. Does that have anything to do with what happened to me?

Answer
This should help you decide.

Once you start puberty a white and/or clear, non-foul smelling discharge (mucous) is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. You will also have your own 'scent' (musky) and it will smell stronger to you than to others. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused. Trust me, you don't ever want it to go away.

Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.

Different types of infections:

Signs of yeast infections:
White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
Intense itching

Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva

Signs of trichomoniasis
A watery, yellowish or greenish bubbly discharge
An unpleasant odor
Pain and itching when urinating
Most apparent after your period

How do I tell my mom I want to start using tampons?

Summer is approaching, which means I will be swimming a lot. My period is coming up in 2 weeks, and I don't want that to stop me, so I want to use tampons. But how do I ask my mom? Also about shaving my pubic hair? It has gotten very bad and it sticks out from my bathing suit, it's nasty.! I'm 12, so what do you think I should do and do you have any stories? Thanks

Answer
Im 12 too and i get your point well i do alot of swimming in the summer and in july im going for a water sports trip with school. I asked my mum for tampons like this ..well it was shopping day and mum was writing out the shopping list and i was a bit embarrassed but i said " mum, could i try tampons this time instead of pads". She was like "yeah, sure just make sure you read the instructions". When we went shopping i chose what i wanted and that was it...And for the pubic hair thing don't shave it all off just so its not that bad and make sure you clean the razor before and after.

Oh and i do have a story
We were in mixed PE (boys and girls PE) and I was on my period. We were doing gymnastics and because Iâm really good at PE especially gymnastics my teacher (male) asked me to do a forward die roll on the trampolines I didnât really feel up to it because of my period. I said to him I didnât feel up to it then he didnât get the hint so I pulled him over to the other side of the hall (I didnât notice the boys were lining up to come in from behind me) and said to him in a normal voice (because I didnât know the boys were behind me) Itâs my time of the month he was a little bit embarrassed as I could tell but he just said ok then from behind I heard giggling and when I turned around I noticed all the boys were behind me and had heard everything (my crush was there, he was at the front of the line) I could have died I ran to the other exit doors as far away from the boys and my crush being really sweet and all that ran after me, I noticed him coming after me and hid but he knew me too well and knew where I would be hiding and came and found me and we just walked around school (our PE teacher said we could until I had carmed down). I forgot I needed to change my pad and it leaked, all I saw was his face go bright red and then he said to he quietly um⦠babeâ¦. (He always calls me that) your period has leaked, I tried to run but he caught up and so we walked to the toilets and he waited outside for me and he went into the gym and got my extra shorts (heâs so sweet)â¦and now heâs my boyfriend!

Good luck! and hope i helped :D x

Is there a way to stop having swelling iin my legs every time I sit at my computer?

Jenni

I have some edema in my legs every night when I sit at my computer and it is quite bothersome. I also have a small scratch on my leg and somehow it keeps leaking some clear fluid. Is this from the swelling in my legs? I know it's not infected because there's no puss or redness or anything like that. It's just annoying like a drippy faucet. Can some please provide me with answer? Thanks

Answer
Swelling of the ankles - feet - legs; Ankle swelling; Foot swelling; Leg swelling; Edema - peripheral; Peripheral edema

Painless swelling of the feet and ankles is a common problem, particularly among older people.

Abnormal buildup of fluid in the ankles, feet, and legs is called peripheral edema or pedal edema.

Painless swelling may affect both legs and may include the calves or even the thighs. Because of the effect of gravity, swelling is particularly noticeable in the lower part of the body

Foot, leg, and ankle swelling is common with the following situations:

Prolonged standing
Long airplane flights or automobile rides
Menstrual periods (for some women)
Pregnancy -- excessive swelling may be a sign of preeclampsia, a serious condition sometimes called toxemia, which includes high blood pressure and swelling
Being overweight
Increased age
Injury or trauma to your ankle or foot
Swollen legs may be a sign of heart failure, kidney failure, or liver failure. In these conditions, there is too much fluid in the body.

Other conditions that can cause swelling to one or both legs include:

Blood clot
Leg infection
Venous insufficiency (when the veins in your legs are unable to adequately pump blood back to the heart)
Varicose veins
Burns (including sunburn)
Insect bite or sting
Starvation or malnutrition
Surgery to your leg or foot
Blockage of the lymph nodes in the legs (lymphatic obstruction)
Certain medications may also cause your legs to swell:

Hormones like estrogen (in birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy) and testosterone
Blood pressure medicines called calcium channel blockers (such as nifedipine, amlodipine, diltiazem, felodipine, and verapamil)
Steroids
Antidepressants, including MAO inhibitors (such as phenelzine and tranylcypromine) and tricyclics (such as nortriptyline, desipramine, and amitriptyline

Home Care

Elevate your legs above your heart while sitting or lying down.
Exercise your legs. This helps pump fluid from your legs back to your heart.
Wear support stockings (sold at most drug and medical supply stores).
Follow a low-salt diet, which may reduce fluid retention and swelling

Prevention
Avoid sitting or standing without moving for prolonged periods of time. When flying, stretch your legs often and get up to walk when possible. When driving, stop to stretch and walk every hour or so. Avoid wearing restrictive clothing or garters around your thighs. Exercise regularly. Lose weight if you need to

Sitting for prolonged periods such as computer work will result in pedal edema. the reason: due to gravity- venous blood tend to pool at the lowest periphery- your legs. It can turn the feet to be quite edematous( swollen) and purplish looking at times. This is caused by poor venous return. or "venous pooling".

One can actually see the line around my ankle down where the discoloration begins. At times, it feels like stepping on a "lit cigarette. or the name of "elephant feet."

Another reason is due to water gain.

Check into zinc

How is your heart ?? I would look into the amino, taurine
and coenzyme Q-10 if it is weak and not pumping as it should.

Next, always sitting with your feet higher than you hips will help AND staying off your feet as much as possible. Next, using the trampoline (sevearl minutes several times as day, for improving lymphatic return from the area, will help. Use the search engine for "Rebounding"

When sitting for prolonged periods; take breaks often to stimulate circulation.

Finally getting fitted for support hose (up TO your knees), at a surgical suppply house, will save your legs long enough for you to lose the weight. When sitting try to elevate your legs
.
Massage will also help.
