Heyya

I am traveling here for vacation in mid august, was wondering if anyone can give some feedback as to whats there to do there, beaches to visit, is it a nice city? Thanks!

Answer
Hi, We just stayed in Kihei the middle of June, Kihei is right along the beach, you can see Lanai from the beach. Everything you need is probably within walking distance, and alot of people ride bikes. However to see the sights you will want to drive to Lahaina, it used to be the Capital city of the islands until it moved to Honolulu, it has quite a bit to do, we went on the Sugar Cane train, we have kids. Right in Wailuku there is a fun park with bumper boat, mini golf a rock climbing area, and the trampoline with the bungee cords. Kahului is the largest city on Maui, it has a mall, and lots of shopping, Walmart etc. It is also where the main airport is. The road to Hana has great waterfalls, and you can see some of the more rural areas. Haleakala is a spectacular sight at sunset or sunrise. You have to plan and leave well ahead of time as it takes hours to drive up or down. There is para sailing, and water activities everywhere. There are submarine type rides, Sunset dinner cruises, drinking cruises, I could go on all day, you should really have a good time, and I think Kihei was a great choice!
Aloha

Fun activities for Summer Party Only teens answer!?

I am having a big pool party and a lot of people are coming for 4 hours so I want some ideas on how to keep people entertained. No indoor activities please!
13 and 14 year olds! What would you want to do? Or is a pool, trampoline and zip line enough for entertainment? Pleaseeee answer 10 POINTS

Answer
I love you Idea of a trampoline and zip line! You can get tons of pool things like pool chairs, lounges, noodles, balls. etc.
For the guys they can watch also the World Cup Soccer!

I found some cool ideas on this site:

http://www.celebrations.com/summerparties

http://shindigzparty.wordpress.com/category/luau-party/

You need to have a theme!! Tropical Luau or Hawaii maybe? If its all girls then do a girly theme, like tropical islands, shopping, make up, just make sure theres something for every type of person there to do!
Do you have a local Dean & Deluca cafe? Have them cater with lunch and cookies! Idea's are having tons of funny looking rubber ducks in the pool, mini parasols in drinks, and maybe some lights under-water. or one of those floating fountains, but those might be expensive and hard to set up.
For invitations you can buy little plastic "message-in-a-bottle" type bottles, pour some sand in, write your invitations make it into a scroll and your good to go! Or you can save money and send an e-vite.
If I were at the party I would want there to be like little contest(s), swimming, food, games, trampoline, zipline, T.V. and music!
Make sure your music is appropriate, you don't want to get in trouble! For dessert you can buy a cookie cake. Before you serve the guests food, know their allergies!!! Have some extra towels and googles. Just make sure you get them all before they leave! Try some beach-themed supplies
like http://www.target.com/Bahama-Breeze-Party-Plus-Guests/dp/B0013KT930/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&qid=1277161855&frombrowse=0&fromGsearch=true&node=1038576%7C1287991011&keywords=beach%20plates&searchSize=30&id=Bahama%20Breeze%20Party%20Plus%20Guests&searchBinNameList=purchasing_channel%2Csubjectbin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchNodeID=1038576%7C1287991011&searchRank=target104545&sr=1-18&searchPage=1&rh=

For cute little contests you can attach strings through small powdered doughnuts (about 4 or 5)and tie them to a long stick (not the kind in a forest!) Have people do a limbo and try to catch and eat the doughnuts! It's lots of laughs! Snow cones make good pool snacks. You can even pick up some things at Party-City. A cooler for water and soda's would be nice too.
A beach ball. What could be more classic?
Some nice cabana towels http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=113055

Play some soda-pong. My safe version of beer pong, please, do not use beer, of course. Use soda's, here's a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oIZ9bZoi3c Oh! And when you have drinks next to the pool do NOT have glass near the pool!!!! It will be super-hard to clean and some one will bleed, a lot! Please, use clear plastic cups!
How about a nice disposable water-proof camera? Get them at drug stores or places like Target or Amazon. I found some adorable zebra print balloons, even tho it doesnt match the theme, prints like this look good next to pools. http://www.target.com/11ZE-Zebra-Print-Balloons/dp/B001E4V5IW/ref=sc_qi_detaillink
And I found the perfect set pool supplies! Its great! http://www.target.com/Pool-Party-Pack/dp/B0001HKC5U/sr=1-13/qid=1249928237/ref=sr_1_13/188-8243016-2770036?ie=UTF8&search-alias=tgt-index&frombrowse=0&pricerange=&index=target&field-browse=1038576&rh=k:pool&page=2

If you want to get wild try spin the bottle :3 and then you guys and dance to music!! Try hooking up some big speakers to computer. You can have people make suggestions for what they want to hear, just type it in on youtube.

Upgrade and refresh your poolside area. http://www.bhg.com/home-improvement/outdoor/pools-spas/pools-spas-pavilions/
Have extra sunscreen, too.

Here are some nice outdoor entertaining tips: http://www.bhg.com/recipes/food-slide-shows/entertaining/outdoor-entertaining/?page=1

Lighting: Hang lanterns and garlands around. For fresh ideas go to your local Target, Walmart, or Party City to pick up a few things you know you and your friends would enjoy.

Hope I helped! contact me if you need more ideas/advice. sk_penguin565@yahoo.com
