In-ground Trampolines

Shimpler

Do I need to buy a special type of trampoline to put it in the ground?

Answer
The three web links below will show you the best kind of trampoline to buy to put in the ground and exactly in detail how to install it in ground:

You can dig a hole and put your entire trampoline in the hole as your other answers suggest but this has disadvantages. The trampoline will rest on the bottom of the hole. Water tends to run into the hole after a storm and often, the hole becomes quite muddy. Then one leg of the trampoline can sink further into the mud than the other legs and the trampoline will not remain level. Also, you have to dig a very large hole to bury your entire trampoline legs and all. Most of the better in-ground trampolines do NOT use legs and are SUSPENDED over the hole rather than sitting inside the hole on legs. This method allows you to more easily dig a much smaller hole and keeps your trampoline perfectly level and evenly supported.

It is also best to have a trampoline mat that is woven rather than a one piece black fabric bed like most home trampolines have. When you bounce, you depress the bed which compresses the volume of air beneath the bed. When the trampoline is above ground this volume of air escapes out around the open steel frame. However when your trampoline is in-ground the air can no longer escape around the frame. It is trapped by the pit and it now can only flow up through the bed and springs. If you have wide safety pads that cover the springs as many trampolines do, then the air that is compressed on each bounce can only escape directly up through the bed. It takes this volume of air longer to escape through a solid black bed like most home trampolines have than through the more expensive woven beds which have a more open weave with holes through which the air can escape. With a regular mat, your trampoline may not bounce quite as well when you put it in the ground but with the more expensive woven bed or mat there will be no drag on your bounce.

Question about water trampolines.....Does anyone have any info about them?

We have been looking and want to buy a water trampoline to take to the lake....What we are looking at is a 12 foot one by Watersports...the price is around 325.00....Does anyone have one of any kind that might can help us decide and if so how much fun was it???
My biggest question I suppose is how high can you jump??..Don't want just several inches or a foot...want good spring in the bounce...

Answer
you cannot get ANY air on a water trampoline. they just dont work. its kind of stupid because i think they recently started making trampolines with straps instead of springs, so you cant jump as high. i think they did that because of some dangerous stuff. or somthing. water trampolines use those straps, but they arent even very stretchy. if you can, get a regular trampoline, with springs not straps, and put it on land, next to the lake, and you can jump off it into the water, that would be better. or, put a regular trampoline on a big open area, away from the lake, because that is even more worth it then getting a water trampoline. unless you can find a water trampoline with springs. good luck!
